In
order to present outstanding exhibitions and programs year
after year, The Textile Museum relies on the ongoing generosity
of members and friends. Gifts can be made to support general
operating expenses, or one of the Museum's many special projects.
Annual Fund
As a privately funded museum, The Textile Museum relies in large part on member support, and upon the generosity of foundations, corporations and individuals who renew their participation each year. In 2007, gifts to The Textile Museum Annual Fund provided more than $1.5 million, or about 34% of the operating budget. Unrestricted gifts to the 2008 Textile Museum Annual Fund support the ongoing costs of many programs and services, including exhibition design and
production; ongoing family
programs such as Celebration of Textiles; content development
and design of initiatives on The TM Web site; development
of programs for teachers and schools; conservation of the
Museum's unparalleled collections;
publication of exhibition gallery guides and catalogues; and maintenance of the
lovely gardens and historic buildings that house the Museum.

Planned
Gifts
A planned gift often allows donors to make a contribution
larger than might otherwise be possible through outright gifts,
and can result in significant tax benefits. Types of planned
gifts include bequests, gifts of life insurance, or charitable
trusts.
